Painting, knitting, sewing, building....you name it, I've done it. There's been a lot of trial and error along the way and I've had my fair share of "Nailed It" projects (click here for reference: http://www.pinterest.com/ayriadev/nailed-it/). There are so many ways to reuse, refurbish and combine products and materials to create a whole new look. Here are a few of my favorite DIY ideas: 1. Paint It!- Liven up your furniture with bold paint colors or a pattern.

I've always loved arts and crafts. Here are a few of my favorite DIY ideas:

1. Paint It!- Liven up your furniture with bold paint colors or a pattern. Replacing the hardware on a dresser or nightstand will also do wonders for the overall look. Using a stencil with an intereresting design or pattern takes a little patience and precision, but will end up looking amazing.

I love finding old furniture at garage sales or Goodwill and giving them a facelift. And with the holidays approaching, these projects could also make great gifts!

2. Wall Decals- Another easy way to add a unique touch to a room is by applying a wall decal. I particularly like the decal of wine bottles pictured below and have them on my own kitchen. It's also a great way to add a fun vibe to a children's room. Here's a site I love with a large selection of decals for any kind of theme:

http://www.wallstickeroutlet.com/

3. Chalboard Paint- I recently did a design project for a Salon & Medspa and decided to use the chalkboard spray paint for a small inset window between the treatment room and the main spa. It turned out beautifully! (pictured below). As a forewarning, you have to spray the paint at an even, steady pace at the same distance away from the window (or wall) so that it covers evenly. Make sure not to get too close to the surface you're spraying, or the paint will start to run- and that's not cute.

4. Mirror or Chrome Spray Paint- Much like the chalkboard paint, this needs to be applied in the same way. You can mirror or chrome a window, a vase, or any kind of glass object. Chrome spray has a stronger silver look than the mirror spray, which in my experience, usually dries more like mercury glass. Make sure to always spray outside or in a well ventilated space!
